On Wednesday and Thursday, February 12th and 13th, 2020, the 4th partnership meeting was held at Cultural Center in Rogaška Slatina. The Vezi narave project, Interreg V-A Slovenia-Croatia, is supported by the European Union and co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund.
The purpose of the meeting was to present the activities carried out by the partners during the third period of the project. Each partner presented the activities that he would undertake in the coming period. The presentation was followed by a tour of the implemented otter measures in Rogaška Slatina. We took a look at the sinkholes, the wooden coastal defense sistem and the new river channel. In Vonarje we visited the Nature Center under construction.
The second day of the partnership meeting was dedicated to a press conference. The project leader presented the implemented activities in Rogaška Slatina and Sutla area. The lectures followed.
The main objective of the project is to improve and maintain the target species in Natura 2000 sites: Sutla, Kupa, Risnjak NP, Radensko polje and Kamačnik Canyon. We aim to improve the habitat of the target species through various measures in nature, and consequently we will increase the habitat for other species as well. By involving farmers and local people, we will raise awareness of the importance of individual species of animals and the conservation of their habitat. Interesting interpretations of nature will bring the importance of nature conservation closer to the general public.
The lead partner of the project is the Municipality of Grosuplje, the other partners are: Municipality of Rogaška Slatina, Institute of the republic of Slovenia for nature protection, Risnjak National Park, City of Vrbovsko, Hyla Society and Public Institute for the Management of Protected Areas of the Krapina-Zagorje County. The project started on September 1st, 2018 and lasts for 30 months. The value of the project is EUR 2,553,908.00 of which 85% is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund.
